Gemstones are valuable, are for decorative purposes, should never get lost during transportation and, most importantly, should not be replicable ؘ– so how can they be labeled so that they can be identified at all times and protected against imitation, without being soiled by print or adhesive residues? The solution is the RFID Jewelry Label from PMG – specifically developed for gemstone labeling.

Programmable, authorized, directly sealable and protected against undetected opening

With the RFID Jewelry Label, PMG has developed an electronic labeling solution that caters to the precise requirements of the product and industry. The label comprises a film with a small integrated chip. At PMG, it is produced as reel-fed material and can be both programmed and individually printed with codes, logos and characters using commercially-available TTR/RFID label printers.

When labeling a gemstone, the label is peeled from the backing layer and shaped into a pocket into which the gemstone is then inserted. Closing the pocket joins together the film without the use of adhesive, and thus without residue, to form a tamper-evident envelope. The integrated opening seal reliably shows if the label pocket has been opened without authorization. The label can be read out at any time – without direct visual contact, through the jewelry packaging for example.

Secure supply chain, efficient stocktaking

The identification of gemstones with the RFID Jewelry Label from PMG makes it possible for goods to be continuously tracked in intralogistics processes and along the entire supply chain. Electronic identification also makes stocktaking considerably easier and more efficient as the label can also be read from a greater distance and multiple labels – and thus multiple gemstones – can be identified together in a group.
