PMG InMould Barcode-Labels durable, efficient labeling directly in the injection molding process

In modern production, the precise and permanent marking of components is playing an increasingly important role—whether for traceability, quality assurance, or automated processes. In-mold labeling (IML) is a particularly reliable solution.

InMould (or In-Mould Labeling, IML) is a process in which labels are integrated directly into a plastic part during the injection molding process. The label is inserted into the mold cavity and fuses with the plastic during production. This creates a durable, water- and chemical-resistant marking that remains precisely legible even under demanding conditions. This process has proven particularly useful in areas where precision and traceability are crucial. Manufacturers in the pharmaceutical, food, and electronics industries benefit from having important information such as batch numbers or expiration dates already integrated into the product. This keeps processes automated, quality assured, and labeling reliable from the outset.

Your advantages at a glance:

  • Significantly reduced setup times: The direct use of labels in the injection molding process, especially with onRoll and onStatic technologies, eliminates the need for time-consuming post-processing or manual labeling. This saves valuable production time and increases efficiency.
  • Rapid integration into existing manufacturing processes: Our solutions can be easily integrated into existing injection molding lines without the need for extensive modifications or new tools. This allows you to benefit immediately from automated workflows and stable production processes.
  • Maximum flexibility for series changes: Whether different component sizes, shapes, or material thicknesses – InMould barcode labels adapt flexibly to changing production requirements. This enables quick changes between series and minimizes downtime.
  • Reliable and durable marking: The labels fuse permanently with the plastic and remain precisely legible even under demanding conditions such as moisture, chemicals, or mechanical stress.
  • Process reliability & traceability: Automated processes are supported, batch information and barcodes are correctly recorded at all times – for complete traceability in all industries.

PMG InMould onRoll Label

PMG InMould onRoll labels are a modern advancement of classic in-mold labels. Instead of individual stacks, the labels are compactly integrated directly into the injection molding process from the roll.

What does this mean for production?

  • Efficient for series production: Roll processing allows large quantities to be processed quickly and continuously.
  • Flexible printing: As with classic InMould labels, barcodes, logos, text, or optional RFID can also be integrated here.
  • Various surfaces: Protective variants such as matte or non-stick ensure optimal readability and handling.
  • No changes to the injection molding process necessary: Existing tools and processes remain unchanged.

Your advantages:

  • Significantly reduced setup times: Processing roll material instead of individual stacks eliminates the time-consuming task of reloading labels. The production line can start faster, minimizing downtime.
  • Rapid integration into existing manufacturing processes: The technology can be easily integrated into existing injection molding lines. No costly tool adjustments are necessary, making implementation particularly simple and efficient.
  • Maximum flexibility for series changes: Whether different component sizes, shapes, or material thicknesses – roll processing enables rapid changeovers between production series without additional tool changes.
  • Continuous production: Roll processing keeps the production flow uninterrupted, which is particularly important for large series or high-frequency manufacturing processes.
  • Process reliability & precision: Each label is positioned exactly, fuses reliably with the plastic, and thus ensures permanently legible barcodes or markings.

PMG IML-onStatic Label

The demands for precise and flexible labeling in manufacturing are constantly increasing. To meet these demands, Plöckl Media Group has developed PMG IML-onStatic, a technology that makes the classic injection molding process even more efficient. What is the PMG IML-onStatic label? The PMG IML-onStatic label is a further development of classic in-mold labeling. Labels are not fixed in place using vacuum or mechanical holding systems, but rather by means of precisely controlled static charging directly in the injection mold. The label adheres firmly to the mold surface and permanently fuses with the plastic part during injection. This method enables manufacturers to use existing tools without modification while integrating labeling even more efficiently into the production process.

What is the PMG IML-onStatic label?
The PMG IML-onStatic label is a further development of classic in-mold labeling. Labels are not fixed using vacuum or mechanical holding systems, but rather by means of precisely controlled static charging directly in the injection mold. The label adheres firmly to the mold surface and permanently fuses with the plastic part during injection. This method allows manufacturers to continue using existing tools without modification while integrating labeling even more efficiently into the production process.

How does static fixation work?

Before the plastic is injected, the label is positioned in the mold. It is pre-charged with static electricity using a controlled electric field, which causes it to adhere firmly to the intended location. During the injection molding process, the label then permanently fuses with the component. This technology works reliably even with complex component shapes, different materials, and varying production speeds. Why is the PMG IML-onStatic label worthwhile for your company? With InMould Static, manufacturers can significantly speed up their processes, minimize setup times, and reduce production costs, while the labeling remains highly precise and durable. At the same time, production becomes more flexible and future-proof, as the technology is optimally tailored to automated processes and Industry 4.0 requirements.

What are the advantages of PMG IML-onStatic label?

  • Seamless integration: The label can be easily integrated into existing injection molding processes and tools.
  • Precise positioning: Each label is positioned exactly where it should be—reproducible in every series.
  • Minimal setup times and cost savings: The elimination of vacuum technology and tool adjustments significantly speeds up production processes and reduces costs.
  • High flexibility: Ideal for differently shaped components, varying series sizes, or different material thicknesses without the need for new tools.
  • Future-proof: Fully compatible with Industry 4.0 and automated manufacturing processes.
  • Clean, permanent marking: The label fuses firmly with the product and remains reliably legible over the long term.
