PMG Freezer Label

PMG TK-Label
for freezing conditions, condensation and cold-storage warehouses

Standard labels often come loose in frozen environments as soon as condensation or frost comes into contact with the adhesive. PMG freezer labels are designed for these conditions: They provide permanent adhesion at sub-zero temperatures, remain readable in cold-storage warehouses and withstand repeated transitions between freezing and thawing.

Plöckl Media Group manufactures each label to order according to your specific requirements – from the choice of material to the appropriate adhesive.

  • Reliable adhesion even when applied to frozen or damp surfaces
  • Available as a barcode or RFID version, depending on the identification process
  • Customizable size, material and printing

Why standard labels fail in frozen environments

In frozen environments, three factors work against the label. Condensation creates a film of moisture between the adhesive and the surface. Frost can lift the edges. And many adhesives become brittle at low temperatures, losing their adhesive strength and causing the label to come off.

If the label is applied to goods that are already frozen, a standard adhesive may not adhere properly in the first place. This is exactly where the adhesive determines the adhesion performance – not the label material.

PMG TK Label: the right adhesive makes the difference

Plöckl Media Group selects the adhesive specifically for each application. For frozen environments, low-temperature and deep-freeze adhesives are used that maintain reliable adhesion even in freezing conditions and on damp surfaces. For the label material, the selection ranges from thermal-printable paper to film materials such as PE, PP and PET, which do not absorb moisture. This ensures that the printed code remains sharp and machine-readable even after thawing.

The right combination for your application depends on the goods, storage temperature and identification process. PMG will provide you with specific advice.

Reliable identification in cold-storage warehouses

PMG TK Labels are available as both barcode and RFID versions. The barcode label is scanned using a barcode scanner and offers an economical solution for clearly visible identification.

The RFID label can be read contactlessly and without line of sight, even through frost or packaging. This makes it possible to identify containers and crates in cold-storage warehouses without handling them individually. Containers that move between deep-freezing and cleaning processes can therefore remain continuously identifiable.

Applications for PMG TK Labels

PMG TK Labels offer versatile applications and ensure reliable identification in sensitive logistics and production processes:

  • Food industry:
In food-related applications, PMG TK Labels are used to identify batches, containers and packaging throughout the entire cold chain. Suitable solutions for this sector can be found on our page dedicated to
    food labeling.
  • Pharmaceutical & laboratory logistics:
    In
pharmaceutical and laboratory logistics, they ensure reliable traceability of refrigerated samples, preparations and sensitive materials.
  • Logistics with reusable containers:
    In
logistics, they are used on reusable containers that pass through both deep-freezing processes and cleaning and washing systems while remaining permanently readable.

FAQ PMG TK-Label

  • Down to what temperature can freezer labels withstand?

PMG freezer labels are designed for use in frozen environments and provide permanent adhesion at sub-zero temperatures. The exact temperature limit depends on the adhesive and label material and is tailored to your specific application.

  • Does a freezer label adhere to goods that are already frozen?

Yes. For application to frozen or damp surfaces, PMG uses specialized deep-freeze adhesives that provide reliable adhesion where standard adhesives fail.

  • Does the barcode remain readable after thawing?

Yes. Moisture-resistant film materials such as PE, PP and PET ensure that the code remains sharp and machine-readable even after exposure to condensation and the thawing process.

  • Barcode or RFID for frozen environments?

Barcode is ideal for visible, individual identification using a scanner. RFID is the better choice when multiple containers in a cold-storage warehouse need to be identified without line of sight or physical handling.

  • What materials are freezer labels made of?

PMG manufactures freezer labels from thermal-printable paper or films such as PE, PP and PET, combined with a deep-freeze adhesive. The choice depends on the goods and storage conditions.
